Todos somos conscientes de lo importante que es el papel higiénico en nuestro día a día…. Especialmente cuando estamos sentados en el baño y vemos el cartón marrón donde debería haber un rollo blanco bien suave preferiblemente de unas cuatro o hasta seis capas. Pero pocos nos paramos a pensar en...  /  We are all aware of the importance that toilet paper has in our day to day lives.... This is specially true when we are sitting on the toilet and we see that annoying brown carton where the incredibly soft, white (four to six layer) roll of paper should be. None the less, very few of us have ever stopped to think about...

PROHIBIDO MORIRSE / DEATH PROHIBITION

Se dice que es ilegal morirse en el Westminster Palace de Londres, (de hecho, hacerlo en cualquier propiedad real). Esto se basa en que cualquier persona que muere en palacios reales del Reino Unido tiene derecho a un funeral con honores de estado.   /  It is said that it is illegal to die in the Westminster Palace in London, (or on any royal ground for that matter). This is based on the fact that anyone who dies in a royal palace in the United Kingdom is entitled to a state funeral.

Durante años, Hugo Chavez y su excentricismo han estado rellenando diariamente las páginas de nuestros periódicos (ya bien sean impresos a la antigua usanza o digitales).  /  For many years, Hugo Chavez and his eccentric ways have been filling the pages of our news papers (may they be old fashioned paper pages or the more modern digital version).

CHISPAS / SPARKS

La historia de hoy tiene como protagonista al emperador Menelik II de Etiopía. A pesar de sus grandes hazañas durante su reinado entre 1889 y 1909 (como la unificación de los estados que hoy conocemos como Etiopía, y la modernización militar y económica y tecnológica de ésta), este emperador pasó a la historia por una decisión un tanto impulsiva y sin duda alguna con mucha chispa.  /  Today's story revolves around Emperor Menelik II of Ethiopia. Despite of his great achievements during his reign between 1889 y  1909 (such as the unification of the lands we currently know as Ethiopia, and its military, economic and technologic modernisation), this emperor left his footprint in history with a somewhat impulsive decision. A decision, without a doubt with a lot of spark.

¡Chin Chin! / Cheers!

Después de brindar unas 148 veces durante las ultimas cuatro semanas, no he podido evitar hacerme la siguiente pregunta:  ¿Por qué chocamos las copas al brindar?   /  After toasting about 148 times over the last four weeks, I couldn't stop asking myself the following question: ¿Why do we hit each other's glasses when we toast?
